For a suspended grid installation, very little. Panels lift into the grid like a standard ceiling tile. For surface mounting you will need a drill for the mounting hardware, a level and a helper. No hole drilling into the ceiling is involved either way.

Why This Is a Realistic DIY Project

Most star ceiling DIY horror stories come from a completely different product. The traditional method means drilling hundreds of holes through your ceiling, threading individual fibre strands one at a time from an attic or crawlspace, and living with every hole you get wrong.

Our panels are not that. They're custom-manufactured acoustic ceiling tiles with the fibre optics and LED light engine already built in. They arrive finished. You put them in place.

You'll need one thing we don't supply: a standard electrical outlet at the ceiling for the light engine to plug into. If there isn't one there already, that part is an electrician's job — but it's a single outlet, not a rewire.
