Home theatres are the most common project we take on, and the reason is slightly unglamorous: our panels are acoustic ceiling tiles before they're anything else. The fibre optics are integrated into a tile that absorbs sound, with options above NRC 1.0.

Ceiling reflections are one of the main things that muddy dialogue in a media room. Most star ceiling products do nothing about that — some make it worse by adding a hard surface. Ours replaces a reflective ceiling with an absorptive one, so the acoustic result and the visual one arrive together.

Why a Centred Field, Not the Whole Ceiling

This is the single decision that changes a theatre ceiling most, and most people get it wrong by defaulting to full coverage.

A 12′ × 12′ field in a 15′ × 15′ room lands on exactly 36 standard panels with no cut or custom-size pieces, and leaves an 18″ border on all four sides. That border is precisely where your screen wall, surround speakers, recessed lights and HVAC supply and return end up. Keeping the starfield clear of them means no fixture punches a hole in the sky.

It also costs considerably less. A 15′ room doesn't divide evenly by 2′, so full wall-to-wall coverage needs custom border panels — $12,375 in panels rather than $7,920, before the extra install.

Bring us a rough ceiling sketch. Screen wall, speaker positions, recessed lights, vents. A phone photo with notes on it is genuinely enough, and it's what lets us lay the field out properly rather than guessing.

What Works Well in a Theatre

Star density

Standard is 7–11 stars per sq ft, which puts roughly 1,000–1,600 stars in a 144 sq ft field. That reads as a convincing night sky rather than scattered dots. Higher densities are available if you want a denser Milky Way effect — worth deciding early, because density is manufactured into the panel and can't be changed after.

Black field tile

If your ceiling has black tile already, that's the ideal background — the stars read against darkness rather than a lit surface. Our panels are matched to your grid module and edge type so they drop in alongside your existing tiles.

Acoustics

Panels reach NRC ratings above 1.0. In a room already treated at first reflection points, the ceiling is often the surface left untreated — so the panels tend to do real work rather than just looking good. We're not acoustic consultants and won't pretend to design your room's treatment, but the panels themselves absorb rather than reflect.
