Quick Answer: A starlight ceiling in Seattle costs $55 per square foot for panels or $77 per square foot fully installed, with no separate travel charge. A typical 150 sq ft master bedroom runs $8,250 panels only or $11,550 installed, finished in a single day once our crew is on site.

We install custom fiber optic star ceilings on both sides of the lake — Queen Anne, Madison Park and Laurelhurst in the city, out to Bellevue, Medina, Mercer Island and Sammamish on the Eastside. Our panels are custom-manufactured acoustic ceiling tiles with the fibre optics and LED light engine already built in. They drop into a suspended grid or surface mount directly, with no attic access, no drilling and no ceiling repair.

Seattle splits neatly into two kinds of job. Daylight and partial basements are common in the city's older houses, and a lower-level media room is one of the most frequent things we quote — a good fit, because the light engine sits inside the panel rather than above it and adds almost no depth to a ceiling that's often already low. The newer Eastside builds are simpler again: flat drywall, standard heights, nothing to work around.

The complication is the city's Craftsman and Tudor stock. Original plaster, coved ceilings and box beams are common in Capitol Hill, Wallingford and Queen Anne, and in a room with significant original detail panels may be the wrong answer. We'd rather look at a photo and tell you that than sell you something that fights the room.

Seattle Projects We Take On

🎬 Lower-Level Media Rooms

The most common Seattle project. Daylight basements suit panels because the light engine adds almost no depth, and the acoustic core tames a hard-surfaced room. See home theatre star ceilings.

🛏️ Master Suites

Medina, Mercer Island and Madison Park bedrooms, usually a centred field over the bed with a slow twinkle. See bedroom star ceilings.

👶 Nurseries & Kids' Rooms

No heat and no current at ceiling level, because the fibres carry light only. See residential installations.

🍽️ Restaurants & Offices

Dining rooms, private rooms and reception ceilings, dropping into an existing grid. Panels are UL fire-rated for commercial specification. See commercial star ceilings.

Period ceilings: Craftsman and Tudor rooms with original plaster, coving or box beams need looking at before anything is ordered. Panels are made for flat ceilings and suspended grids — a room with significant original detail may be better left alone or done another way. Send a photo and we'll tell you straight.

Seattle Starlight Ceiling FAQ

Panels are $55 per sq ft delivered. Fully installed by our crew is $77 per sq ft, with no separate travel charge. A bedroom centre field of 100–150 sq ft runs $5,500–$8,250 panels only, or $7,700–$11,550 installed.
Both sides of the lake. Medina, Clyde Hill, Mercer Island, Laurelhurst, Madison Park, Queen Anne, Magnolia, Capitol Hill, Belltown, Ballard, Fremont, Wallingford, Green Lake and West Seattle, plus Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, Sammamish, Issaquah and Bothell.
Very well. Daylight and partial basements are common in Seattle houses and a lower-level media room is one of the most frequent projects we quote here. Because the LED light engine is built into the panel rather than sitting above the ceiling, we add almost no depth to a ceiling that's often already low, and we need no access from above.
It depends on the ceiling. Panels drop into a suspended grid or surface mount to a flat ceiling. Original plaster, coved ceilings and box beams common in Seattle Craftsman and Tudor homes need assessment first, and in a room with significant original detail panels may be the wrong product. Send us a photo and we'll say honestly whether it works.
32 fibre points in a 2×2 panel and 64 in a 2×4, which works out at 8 per sq ft either way. A 144 sq ft centre field is around 1,150 points. Higher densities are available on request.
Yes. Panels ship to any Washington address at $55 per sq ft. They run on 12V low-voltage power, daisy chain with Cat5 cable and need no drilling, so a 144 sq ft field is a weekend job for two people. Choosing panels only saves $22 per sq ft — see our DIY kits.
