Quick Answer: A starlight ceiling in San Jose costs $55 per square foot for panels or $77 per square foot fully installed, with no separate travel charge. A typical 150 sq ft master bedroom runs $8,250 panels only or $11,550 installed, finished in a single day once our crew is on site.

We install custom fiber optic star ceilings across San Jose and the South Bay. Our panels are custom-manufactured acoustic ceiling tiles with the fibre optics and LED light engine already built in — they drop into a suspended grid or surface mount directly, with no attic access, no drilling and no ceiling repair.

The South Bay is one of the easier markets we work in, and it comes down to the housing. Most of the area went up from the 1960s onward, so you get flat drywall ceilings, standard heights and none of the original plaster, coving or decorative detail that makes older stock complicated. Newer builds often have higher ceilings as well, which gives more room to work with. Panels were designed for exactly this kind of ceiling.

Media rooms are the most common project we quote here, followed by master suites. The panels are acoustic tiles before they're anything else, which does real work in a room where the ceiling is usually the last hard surface left untreated.

South Bay Projects We Take On

🎬 Media Rooms

Our most common South Bay project. Acoustic panels handle the ceiling reflections that hurt audio while the starfield sets the room. See home theatre star ceilings.

🛏️ Master Suites

Los Gatos, Saratoga and Almaden bedrooms, usually a centred field over the bed with a slow twinkle. See bedroom star ceilings.

👶 Nurseries & Kids' Rooms

No heat and no current at ceiling level, because the fibres carry light only. See residential installations.

🏢 Offices & Reception

Panels drop into an existing suspended grid, so an office ceiling doesn't get rebuilt. UL fire-rated for commercial specification. See commercial star ceilings.

Vaulted and cathedral ceilings: plenty of newer South Bay homes have them, and panels are made for flat ceilings and suspended grids. A heavily vaulted room may be better served by a traditional loose-fibre install than by our product. Send a photo before assuming either way.

San Jose Starlight Ceiling FAQ

Generally yes, more than most markets. Much of the South Bay is post-1960s ranch and newer construction with flat drywall ceilings and no plaster detailing, which is exactly what panels are made for. Newer builds often have higher ceilings too, which gives more room to work with.
32 fibre points in a 2×2 panel and 64 in a 2×4, which works out at 8 per sq ft either way. A 144 sq ft centre field is around 1,150 points. Higher densities are available on request.
Most residential rooms take a single day once the crew is on site. Panels drop into a suspended grid or surface mount directly, so there's no attic access, no drilling and no ceiling repair. Our crew travels from Dallas, so we agree the date in advance.
Yes. Panels ship to any California address at $55 per sq ft. They run on 12V low-voltage power, daisy chain with Cat5 cable and need no drilling, so a 144 sq ft field is a weekend job for two people. Choosing panels only saves $22 per sq ft — see our DIY kits.
